  2. Hampton Court Palace is a tale of two palaces: a grand Tudor palace originally built by Cardinal Wolsey before being developed by Henry VIII. Dovetailing with the Tudor splendour is the Baroque palace designed by Sir Christopher Wren for William III and Mary II in the 17th century.

  3. Matthew under bridge
    In 1497 John Cabot set sail from Bristol to find a new trade route to Asia. Instead, he arrived in Newfoundland and therefore became the original discoverer of North America. To celebrate the quincentenary of this voyage, a replica Matthew was built. Today The Matthew is Bristol-based and open to the public, undertaking short cruises and voyages overseas.
    1. Crofton Beam Engines
      Crofton Pumping Station was built in 1807-9 to supply water to the highest point of the Kennet & Avon canal which links London and Bristol.

    2. Arnos Vale Cemetery
      Arnos Vale Cemetery is a national heritage site in the heart of Bristol set within 45 acres of stunning woodland ecosystem. As a popular community space it hosts a range of music and theatrical performances, alongside private parties and public classes. As well as weddings, tours and being a film location for well-known programmes such as Casualty and Sherlock. Arnos Vale has something for everyone and it is open all year round with free admission. The Gift Shop and café are open 7 days a week.
    3. Wellington Arch
      Set in the heart of royal London, Wellington Arch was built as an original entrance to Buckingham Palace, later becoming a victory arch proclaiming Wellington's defeat of Napoleon.
