Over

Nestled in the Wylye Valley between Salisbury and Warminster, just off the Great West Way, Langford Lakes nature reserve is an ideal place for bird watching. The four lakes and wet scrape provide a vital stopping off point and resident habitat for about 150 different bird species. The reserve is also home to the popular Kingfisher Cafe.

Looked after by Wiltshire Wildlife Trust, Langford Lakes is one of more than 40 nature reserves that the trust maintain across Wiltshire. Other reserves that can be visited by travellers along the Great West Way route include Lower Moor Nature Reserve and Blakehill Farm Nature Reserve near Cricklade, as well as Jones's Mill near Pewsey.

Visitors can also enjoy locally sourced food and drink at the reserve’s Kingfisher Café, which offers a spectacular view over the main lake – with both indoor and outdoor seating, the café is a great spot to relax at any time of the year, and is sometimes also used for other activities such as yoga classes, work away days, and weddings. Please note that The Kingfisher Café is temporarily closed from 17 June until 11 July. It will reopen under licence to Ed Dibbles on Wednesday 12 July.
