Horace Walpole’s 18th century architectural masterpiece is internationally renowned as Britain’s finest example of Georgian Gothic revival architecture.

Horace Walpole, son of Britain’s first Prime Minister, Sir Robert Walpole, had the ambition to create an eccentric and complex gothic castle overlooking the Thames. He succeeded beyond measure, using the enchantment of Strawberry Hill as an inspiration for the publication of the first ever Gothic novel, The Castle of Otranto. Following the completion of a £10 million restoration, this constantly evolving building will inspire the
imagination for all who visit.
